Back to school means new beginnings, but it’s also a stressful time for so many of my friends and colleagues in independent schools. I call the past few weeks that crazy time of year when many of us are SINKING under the weight of overwhelm that comes with the transition of summer to fall.

That’s why there’s no better time to remember the value of self-care. The best leaders know their ability to operate at the highest level is directly tied to their physical and emotional wellbeing. Even the tiniest acts—a short walk, a 5-minute meditation, or lunch with a friend—can make a huge difference.
